Have you ever noticed that some of your leads in Kartra have an anonymous first name?

It's a common occurrence, especially when people fill out forms or surveys and the first name field is not there, or not required and leads don’t include their name. Unfortunately, this can lead to some awkward moments when you use the dynamic field {first_name} in your emails.

Instead of saying "Hey Jane" or "Hey John," your email might say "Hey Anonymous," which can come across as impersonal and even unprofessional. But don't worry, there are a few ways to fix this issue. No one has time for that.

If you have leads and can fix it - DO! But if there are too many or you can’t consider skipping the {first_name} and using something that that's appropriate for your brand. For example, if you're in the fitness industry, you could say "Hey Fit Fam" instead of using their first name. If you are running a mamma’s club you could use Hey Mamma.

If you want to tackle the root of the problem, you'll need to correct those holes that are bringing in the anonymous names. Look to your leads list to the source column to identify where the hole is coming from then fix it. You can export your list with the names that need to be corrected, adjust everything in a CSV, and re-upload that list to Kartra to be reviewed and changed.
Just make sure you edit existing leads when you bring it back in.
